am I a monster
or is this what it means to be a human?
sometimes our conversations haunt me
like a body
that just won’t sink.
you step, you make ice out of snow –
if you shout, you steam and
I’m worried that all of my thinking out loud
will make you turn away.
we are shaped and fashioned by what we love –
more insidiously though
we contain the negative space just the same.
if I could
I’d take back
the things that I have said.
we all kill good things,
we do it all the time,
but if it don’t shit sometimes, it ain’t living.
what I need to understand is that
it’s not one or the other, but
on the contrary both at once.
monster-human
human-monster.
